90s fashion is back, and I am loving it! In today’s post, I am sharing four of my favorite pieces that anyone can wear as part of their daily basics.
One of my favorite pieces is the Fanny Pack, also called the belt bag. Most designers came out with a fanny pack this season, but I don’t like to spend a lot of money on pieces that are eventually going to go out of style. You can always find affordable Fanny Packs in any retail store. Another favorite piece of the 90s are the berets. I must admit that I have always been a fan of these hats. Vinyl is another trend that is still going strong from last year; not everybody likes it because it can get tricky to style it, but I do. The 90s was most known for cool sneakers, like the Nike Cortez and the Reeboks. I haven’t got myself a pair, but I need one for the Spring.
I was or am the kind of person who buys things just because I fall in love with them, and not exactly because I need them. That is why one of my resolutions for this year is to do more “Smart Shopping.” So what exactly is “Smart Shopping”? It is simple, it is what I call conscious shopping. So rather than buying things just because I love them, I am going to think more about my needs before purchasing them. Like, “How many times am I going to wear this piece?”
When you are into fashion you want to wear the trendiest pieces all the time, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But my biggest problem is that I was buying stuff that I was only wearing once. So my goal is to find pieces that I can wear multiple times-pieces that are classy, functional, and trendy, too.
One of thing that I am doing now before shopping online or at the store is questioning myself before buying anything.
I ask myself the following questions: “Do I really need this? How many times can I actually wear this?” Believe it or not this is working for me, along with planning my outfits, and knowing what I already have in my closet. Knowing what you have in your closet is essential when you want to “Smart Shop.” For example, I realized that I have three pairs of boots that look almost the same, and I was ready to buy another one. That’s when I stopped shopping for unnecessary things.
Now, let’s talk about my outfit. Everything I am wearing, with the exception of the coat, are items that I bought last year. I got the coat on sale two weeks ago. I also don’t recommend buying things just because they are on sale. It is not smart buying items that you don’t need only because it’s a good deal. In this case, I bought this puffer coat not only because it was on sale, but also because I needed one.
Let me know of any other strategies that work for you if you are a “Smart Shopper.”
New Year, new me! Ha-ha! These four words sound so familiar, right? But, yes, this year I am going to change things around in my life, and the blog. Well, let me tell you that the plan is to start writing more about fashion, beauty, and lifestyle in general on my blog.
But first, I want to share more about me, and why I don’t blog full time; why I’m not consistent as many of you had noticed lately. My number one reason is time! Let’s admit it, it is hard to manage your time when you have a full time job, a husband, a family, and a blog. It’s not easy to carve out the time to do it all, but I know it’s not impossible. This is the part where the new year, new me comes into play. I want to focus on my blog full time, I want to work harder, and not give up on my dream. I most say that when the year started I lost some inspiration, and I doubted that I would have the time to blog full time, but I am going to make it happen. I am not going to give up on something I love doing.
As you know, I have been blogging for three years now, but I am not where I want to be. I don’t want to sound ungrateful because last year was a good year for me, and my blog. I worked with so many amazing brands, but I want to do more. I LOVE what I do, and I have no doubt that my brand can grow, and I know that that will only happen by working harder.
Most importantly, I want to be able to connect more with my followers. For me, this is going to be a challenge since I’m not the type of person who opens up so easily about my private life, but I am going to try.
Basically, what I want to do is to focus more on my blog and be consistent. I know that this means waking up early on my days off, and shooting when it’s cold out, but it’s the only way to get it done.
Let’s make this year a great year!!! We can do anything we put our minds to.
How to survive the winter 101. Get a giant faux fur coat, one that can fit two of you inside, at least visually.
I’ve had this amazing faux fur coat since December last year ( It’s from H&M) and I couldn’t wait to wear it and feature it on the blog. It’s such a statement piece. Faux fur is your friend and a great fashion asset!
I’ve linked some of my favorite Faux Fur Coats here. Thank me later! 🙂
This season’s favourite hat is the beret. The statement style, which is a departure from the fedoras and floppy brimmed hats of previous seasons, is perfect for adding a chic French touch to any outfit. The style is also more feminine and elegant than a beanie, making it a great alternative for occasions when you want a more elevated appearance. read more
